YIKES!!!!<br /><br />Jennifer - I never really did training for earthdog. It is mostly about instinct. AKC trials will have the Intro class which is your best training opportunity. Depending on where you live, there may be breed clubs or earthdog clubs that hold practice days. Before our first trial, I nailed some plywood together a la a tunnel and got the dogs to go in it with treats. You can also get rat bedding and soak it in water - this is actually what they use to scent the tunnels - &quot;rat tea.&quot; Pet stores that sell rats will probably give you used bedding. I am seriously considering having my dox do this. <br /><br />One site recommended a scent on a decoy and then dragging the decoy in a L shape and hiding it.....then having the dog scent for it. <br /><br />Thats just ONE thing to do...but I am having trouble finding a good scent at sporting stores. <br /><br />Does it matter if its some sort of duck scent? I cldnt beilieve what i went thru i was mad i wanted to disown the dog not have anything him but he wiggled his back in my heart . didnt try it no more cause he was to onrey an his sons were same way an so was there mama my dad ccalled her red bomber .They dehaired a chow that jumped in yard one the boys gt stuck trying climb a tree after a cat .
