Sissy and Chester

[Today's guest blogger Michael lives in Oakland, CA and sadly his dachshund Sissy passed away a few weeks ago.]

This is a video of my dachshund Sissy meeting our neighbor's cat Chester for the first time. They were very shy towards each other at first but eventually their curiosity overcame them.

Sadly, Sissy passed a few weeks ago. Losing her was the hardest experience of my life. I am now trying to spread the last video of her I have with other dachshund lovers so that the happiness she brought me can be shared!

So sorry for your loss. It will be 2 years ago tomorrow that I lost my 14 year old Dixie (a longhaired dachshund) to congestive heart failure. We adopted two more a month later because while she could never be replaced and is always and forever in my heart, I knew there were so many out there who needed love. I hope you experience dachsie love again in your life too.

Hi Michael, sorry to hear about the loss of Sissy. I enjoyed the video. Having lost our two Doxies a number of years ago, we know how difficult it can be. Although there are not words now which will temper the hurt, with time may good memories of Sissy shine through. Perhaps when and if the time is right, hopefully you and another Doxie will find one another.

So very sorry for your loss. No matter how long they are with us, it's never long enough.

Great video; brings back memories of my Gus' (chocolate & tan) first meeting with our cats. I pulled him from the shelter as a rescue. He went out into the yard with my other dogs, saw our cats, and thought, "Oh fun! Let's chase the cats!" He couldn't understand why the other dogs didn't go after them. I swear I almost saw him shrug, shake his head, and mumble something about "this crazy place, no one knows cats are to be chased." He was our kitties pal from then on. I do miss our Gus terribly too. I love Dachshunds.
