Brody Meets His Bro!

[Kristin is a long-time WYD contributor originally from California but now lives with her husband and their dachshund Brody in Alaska. They have a general love for all things outdoors from fishing to camping and their dogs tag along for every ride! Read more about this active family at http://alaskat.wordpress.com/]

A while back, I received a random message on Facebook from Lauren, a girl I went to high school with. She said that a friend of hers had Googled "blue eyed dachshund" and POW...there was Brody and of course this post.

Lauren and I started talking and apparently her friend Googled "blue eyed dachshund" because he had never seen a dachshund with blue eyes, until he saw her dog, Dizzle. I know...cute name right?

Well get this, long story short, I introduce to you, Dizzle...Brody's brother.

Yes, Dizzle is actually Brody's brother, not from the same litter though. Dizzle is 5 and Brody is 3, but they do have the same mom and dad. Take a look at these and tell me that it doesn't freak you out a little bit. Dizzle on the left, Brody on the right.

How uncanny is the resemblance? Right down to the white chest, white tipped paws, blue eyes...the only real difference is that Dizzle is a little darker in color than Brody is, Brody is a brighter red.

I know for a fact that there are other puppies from various litters that look a lot like Brody and Dizzle. When I would go to visit Brody (before he was old enough to bring him home) I immediately fell in love with one of the breeder's dogs (she literally had 30 dachshunds of her own, no exaggeration). His name was Dylan and he could've been Brody's twin too.

Lauren and I now constantly text each other photos of the boys, it's a real treat to see all of the similarities. She even texted  me one day, wanting to know if Brody is sweet, loving, and a cuddler (her and her husband were comparing their other dachshund, Rusty, to Dizzle and wondering where the differences come from). My response?? Boy is he ever!! I immediately directed her to this post and this one as well.

Funny thing is, look at how much Rusty looks like Diego (my dachshund that passed in 2008). Rusty on the left, Diego on the right.

Maybe one day soon, Lauren and the boys will come to visit, so Brody can meet his long lost brother :)

Love this post, Kristin! I still remember the time we accidentally met Theo's little sister. It was so weird for all the humans to slowly put the pieces together while it seemed to natural for the two of them to just start playing :)

That is so cool. I love their blue eyes!

My Bubba is a cuddler too. The closer the better as far as he is concerned.
