Summertime around our house can typically be summed up into five words – work, fish, eat, sleep, repeat. J has been running himself ragged lately - between working 10-12 hour days, six days a week, and then fishing until all hours of the night, he tends to be one tired guy.*

Brody of course has the innate ability to sleep up to 20 hours a day (perhaps even more), so whenever we’re sleeping or even just lounging on the couch, he jumps on every chance he gets to cuddle up with dad or mom. Never underestimate the power of dachshund cuddling. You could wake up after sleeping for 10 hours, feel revved and ready for the day, and the minute you lay down on the couch with a snuggly little wiener dog, it’s all over. You might as well have dosed yourself with Tylenol PM.

What’s the whole point of my dachshund cuddling rant? Well Brody and J snuggling is about the cutest damn thing ever. I’m constantly trying to snap a good photo of them while they’re asleep but every time I grab my camera Brody of course moves out of his once perfect photo-op position and demands that I pay attention to him. What is it about the camera that makes them suddenly say, 'don’t take photos mom, love me, love me'?

I digress...on Saturday night, after J passed out while we were watching a movie, I looked back to see the both of them in nearly identical positions, so of course I tried to slyly grab my phone and quickly snap a photo before Brody moved. He did wake up and move, but luckily I got this shot:

Like father, like son.

* No over exaggeration here, on Wednesday last week he worked 5am-3pm, went home and changed, hit the river and didn’t get home until 11:45pm, didn’t get to sleep until 12:30am, was up and out of the house (on his way back to the river) by 4am and fished until 3pm that day. Can we say fishing addict?
