The Great Food Battle

Poppy and I are in the throws of a great battle.

The Great Food Battle of Twenty Ten.

You see, I recently purchased the wrong kind of dog food. It’s the same exact brand as she always eats but I accidentally purchased the bigger bites instead of the preferred tiny bits.

I poured her a bowl the other day and when I placed it on the floor, she gave me this look like, 'Oh heck no. You don’t think I’m going to eat that, do you?' I then proceeded to tell her (yes, tell her, because I talk to my dog like a crazy person) to 'Buck up, dog. There are starving children in the world,' to which she promptly ripped apart a chew toy to show her disgust for me.

But I guess she got hungry enough to eat the food she was so against.

That doesn’t mean she’s not going to leave me a message to let me know that I should never again purchase said kibble. All over the floor.

You win, Poppy.

This time.

I love it (because mine mouths a few pieces and carries them in and deposits them in the middle of his bed!) They do get eaten eventually though.

Too funny!! What are those things? Shredded animal toy parts? : )

Calvin and Theo will eat ANYTHING.

This is both good and bad. Trust me.

Please tell me that isn't Kibbles n Bits. Please. Tell me it is some other orange slender shaped food that is actually good for your dog. Or it's carrot pieces. Anything but toxic bits.

Wasn't there a post in this blog about healthy dog foods?

mine will eat anything and try and help the big dogs eat their kibble too. They don't care as long as it's food. Not always a good thing. I think I have the least discriminating doxies going. (although now I get their food delivered since I can get it cheaper and in a bigger bag and it's done automatically.)

How funny! I think Poppy and my wirehaired doxie may be related - they look and act just alike!

Glad to know Poppy isn't the only one who does this.

masstransit - We have discussions about the food in the bed thing. She usually wins that battle too.

Bridget - It's kibble... all over the bedroom.

Michelle - It is Kibbles n Bits. It's the only thing Poppy will eat. If you have any suggestions on healthier kibble that a picky dachshund with a sensitive stomach can eat, I'd love to hear them. Always open to new things.
