Meet the authors: Faryle

[Hey you guys? THIS IS SUCH AN EXCITING DAY! After a year and a half of blogging, Who's Your Dachshund has finally found a contributor to represent for the wirehaired dachshunds out there! Please give a warm welcome to Faryle and Poppy who are the most recent members of the WYD team. - Ben]

I’ve been around dogs my entire life. I grew up in a nondiscriminatory dog family: Springer Spaniel, Cairn Terrier, Border Collie, Mini Australian Shepherd and West Highland Terrier throughout the years. Basically, if it had four legs and barked, I was in love.

I had always wanted a dog of my own and while I knew I would have to wait until the right time, that didn’t stop me from researching breeds and falling head over heels for dachshunds. I mean, hello adorable little legs and sweet faces.

So in May of 2008, after graduating from college, I made my first big decision as an adult. I was getting a dachshund puppy.

I found Poppy, my miniature black and tan, wire-haired dachshund, after searching at several area humane societies and dog rescues. She was four months old when she came home with me and I was immediately in love. Shy and quiet when you first meet her, she will snuggle up next to you as soon as you show her any bit of attention. She has unruly hair, can be kind of bossy and a bit of a tease. Rub her tummy and you are her best friend forever.

We call Kansas home where I work in publishing, have a minor obsession with DVRing an embarrassing amount of TV and occasionally antique shop (because even though I’m 23, I sometimes have the tendencies of an 82 year old.)

Check out the personal blog if you want to know anything else.

She is so cute! I am a fan of wire-haired, but they don't seem to be as abundant in population. I can't wait to hear about...well, for instance, grooming a wire-haired. They are cute and I may want one of those next...

Poppy is adorable and oh-so-lucky. She has a responsible owner who did her homework, waited for the right time, and looked her up through rescue places. Lucky Poppi! :) Very happy for you, and your momma

Sooooooo Cute!!!! And the eyes!!! I happen to have a wired hair dapple dachshund named Picasso and a wild boar named Odie. They are adorable but a handful and wouldn't have it any other way. We never have to cut their hair, and both for some reason have Mohawks. You can check both of them here: http://shareworldlove.blogspot.com/2009/08/picasso-odie.html
