Dulcinea is a pillow hog. Plain and simple. As hard as I have tried to get this little fur ball out of our bed, she is still sleeping with us and not only that, but night after night she ends up stealing my pillow until I am sleeping without one. I have to admit-just as my husband will-she is so sweet and cuddly that you just can't help but love sleeping with her. The problem is that she already rules the house enough as it is that I really, really, want to get her to sleep in her own bed so we can have our own space.
I thought that when she was a baby and would snuggle up against my neck like a scarf, that it was something she did to be close to her "mother" (as in, she could feel my heart beat and it made her feel safe, etc.). I used to love it when she would become my little bufanda (scarf) because it was winter time and she kept me warm. But now, she has taken it to a whole new level (not to mention she is bigger than she was 3 months ago).
When I wake up in the morning, normally she is curled up in the middle of my pillow. She then stretches out to look like this:
And finally, as if pillow hogging wasn't enough....this girl loves her sunshine and will do just about anything to get it! She stole her Daddy's pillow (which was already on the floor mind you), put it in her bed and got on top so she could 1. have a pillow and 2. be in the sun! As we say in Chile, what a little patuda (ie. she is shameless)!

That's wonderful!
For whatever reason, the puppies will crowd the other side of the bed rather than mine. They probably know that I'd muscle them out anyway.
The nice thing is that since it's so cold now, they make perfect hot water bottles when you need em!
All my girls thru years have loved stealing my pillows but i really dont mind its i rather have em in bed then i know where there at an makes me feel lil safers an i dont have worry abt falling over the girls cause where ever i am at there behind me They rejuvinate in sunshine . I call my smallest one a walking radiator she gt warm lil body an a very cold wet nose Vet says she just is a good walking lil hot water bottle.
She looks SO much like my little one did at her age. I know just how hard it is to be strong and not give into their every whim. Ours still gets to sleep with us every now and then. Only, she's way under the covers now. :)
Tyffanie, she's so cute!! And I'm glad she's feeling better!
I gave in and bought mine their own pillows. Yes, I caved and catered to their demands... but I wanted my pillows back! :-)
Uh, welcome to life with dachshunds. Try sleeping with 5 of them!!!!
You get to sleep in the bed- there is room for you? I have to share a queen size with hubby and two dachsies with moxie- there MIGHT be a little room for me, usually along the very edge of the bed. If they only stole the pillows!!!!!
Classic doxie fashion. Emma has gotten to the point where she will lay beside the body pillow instead of on top of it so she can be closer to me, so I feel your bed -space envy!
Great shot of her on the white pillow!
PS. Please look at how happy she looks in that second picture. I'd give her the pillow too.
what a sweetheart! our doxie, bean is just the same with "needing" to be in the bed!
She is the cutest pillow hog ever!! Ok, I suppose that does not help the situation by saying that, huh? Shhhh... don't tell Dulciena. :)

you should let her stay. my three doxies are great bed warmers. also, they seem to know which area of my body needs a hot water bottle applied to it. mine are cover hogs. amazing such small dogs can take up so much space. lovem to death. my life has been touched so deeply by my little ones. merry christmas and happy new year.
My doxie, Angel, is like that, too. My parents had to trade in their queen size bed for a king size bed to accomodate her because she loves taking the whole bed up. When she is in bed with me, Angel lays her head on my pillow and the rest of her body is on the bed in a vertical position just like a person when she sleeps against me. It's so cute when I see her in the morning like that. And she likes being under the covers, too, to keep her warm. :)
Jeeves slept in my bed for one summer. I loved it although it was kind of weird to wake up and see his face next to mine on the pillow (just like Angel above). He just got too snippy with others and real dominant aggression was coming out. When he started sleeping in his crate, the order in the universe was restored. Fortunately, he loooves his crate. But she is so happy on your pillow. I mean, look at her smile in that second photo. I sleep in Mom and Dad's bed every night. Mom tells me I used to cuddle up to her neck like that too but now I like to sleep down at the bottom of the bed.
Snuggles,

Awww my Bella is the exact same way! And looks very similar to Dulcinea when shes sleeping :), She alternates between my feather pillow (which is basically, HER feather pillow now) and sleeping under the covers on me or behind my knees, LOL.
We don't get much room in the bed either. We wake up in the morning hugging the sides with the dogs and 2 of the cats taking up the rest of it There have been times that they have pushed us right out in the middle of the night! We have a pillow on the couch which one of the doxies pulls off all the time and others scattered around the floor for them. They have stolen one of my pillows recently so I bought my self a new one- so far, so good.
Our Lab is smart enough to sleep on the floor at the foot of the bed- with a body pillow.
She stole your husband's pillow and took it to her bed so she could be comfy AND be in the warm sunshine? ADORABLE. And 100% dachshund.
My three all hog pillows whenever they get the chance, but Max takes it up a notch when they get to sleep in bed with us. Inevitably, she winds up with her head and shoulders on my pillow and the covers pulled up to her little armpits. Perhaps she saw us sleeping like that and decided that was how she would sleep too.
