Meet the authors: Kristin

[Another welcome addition to the Who's Your Dachshund team of authors! Everyone say hello to Kristin and the boy with the blue eyes, Brody.]

I’m told that my earliest encounter with a dachshund was with my grandma’s red dachshund named Merry (she was born on Christmas, thus the name Merry). The only thing I remember about Merry is that she was always asleep (stereotypical dachshund) under the piano, on her bed, next to the wood stove, but I may only remember this because it’s the story I’ve always been told.

Diego was my very first dachshund of my own, he came into my life in 2004.

Diego

He was a rambunctious little guy and my over protective guard dog who now looks after me from heaven. If you're interested, here's Diego’s story.

In March of 2008, I got my second dachshund, Brody.

Brody

He’s my blue-eyed red dapple dachshund who loves frolicking in the snow, cuddling with mom and dad, and generally annoying his big sister (which isn’t very hard to do). You can read more about Brody here.

This is Sadie, our non-dachshund child, don’t hate her because she’s not a wiener.

Sadie

She’s a black lab/rottweiler mix who loves to retrieve in the true labrador fashion. She’s Justin’s bird huntin’ dog, there isn’t anything that dog wouldn’t do for him. Don’t let the grey beard fool you, she’s a spunky old girl with a HUGE attitude and she’s not afraid to tell you how she feels.

Originally from California, Justin and I moved to Alaska in June of 2009 and we’re here to stay! We have a general love for all things outdoors: fishing, hunting, camping, you name it…so Alaska is the place for us. Our dogs go with us everywhere we go, if we’re not out exploring the outdoors you’ll find the four of us curled up watching a movie at home.

Welcome Kristin! I look forward to hearing your Alaska stories. How I'd love to pull up stakes and head to Alaska. Maybe some day...

What small world, I've been reading this blog for a few months - I'm from Alaska - I have a red long haired dachshund named Loki... he's just learning to love the snow!

Riley's mom: You should! That's what we did, we left everything behind and moved here because it was our dream. Now we're living our dream and it feels amazing! You should come visit us sometime.

.JKC.: Where in AK are you? Did you walk Loki in the weenie parade in Soldotna this year? I walked Brody.

Ben: His eyes are crazy, people always tells us they look like a person's eyes.
