Meet the Dachshunds

Looking for something?

It's that time again.

Yes - Winter is here in Atlantic Canada. Of that much, I'm sure having woken up to a veritable winter wonderland outside my window during the first week of November.

But hey, it's not all bad! There are days where the puppies actually enjoy the serenity of lightly falling snow on a crisp morning in our backyard...and then of course proceed to ruin it by tearing around like mini abominable snowmen, trying to destroy it all flake by flake.

And then of course you have to consider the fact that dachshunds turn into straight up stuffed toys for the winter months. Between November and May, Calvin and Theo are always found in the same place that you left them, in the same pose they were last seen in, and exude little to no trouble or dog-like behaviour because they are too busy sucking in all the heat that they possible can.

Missing a dog? Check the vents. Sometimes we get a bit of a build-up.

Loved this! Too funny how you said "check the vents. Sometimes we get a bit of a build-up." We little weiners sure do love to snuggle and stay warm!! In fact as I dictate these comments to my mom I am on my back, belly and feet towards the gas stove basking in complete heated bliss.

How cute! I am surprised by how much heat these little dogs need, even Dulcinea with all of her hair! She has yet to experience snow, I can't even imagine how she will react hahahaha. My parents' doxie loves it though!

The dog bed in our kitchen is right on top of a vent for that exact same reason. The colder it gets, the less I see of the pups when they're asleep in their kennel, and by the time mid-December rolls around, I won't be able to tell there's anything but blankets in there.
