Meet the Dachshunds

Blog Archive

Looking for something?

And just like that, it's gone.

There is no question in my mind that Canadian Autumn is the absolute best place and time to own a dachshund. The sun makes the red and yellow trees simply luminous in the parks, the blowing leaves on the ground are ideal dachshund prey, and the air is crisp enough for them to wear those adorable sweaters you tell people were gag gifts but in fact you spent week looking for.

Don't worry. I won't tell.

We spent weeks hiking all over town - every dog park, every forest trail, downtown streets with lattés in hand - and enjoyed every return to the house for group snuggles to get the chill off our skin. Pure puppy-owning bliss!

And now it's November. And that sucks.

Because it'll be snowing in no time.

And then the dachshunds will hide under the bed to avoid having to go for walks.

Sigh.

If you need me, I'll be over here with my fond memories...

Sounds like Fall in Western Washington. September and October were fabulous! Then, like flipping a switch, it became November. Instead of snow, we will get rain by the bucketful. Gus doesn't mind the rain (but hates the towel drying) while Riley will hide under the bed to try to avoid going outdoors. Hang in there Guys! This too shall pass.

The fall is ending here in Michigan, too...I'm going to miss it. Ike actually seems to enjoy running through the leaves, but not at all the snow!

Here's to the next 4-5 months of finding accidents in the house!

Is it really that tragic? I'll probably be biting back my words in February!
