Our dachshund Rudy lays like that occasionally...and like yours, he seems to be very relaxed or wiped out tired. It makes us laugh.
Both my Dachshunds Zanz & Ulla do this. Ulla only does it when she's exhausted after a long walk, but Zanz does it all the time.
Peanut does this when he's really super tired or when he's stretching!
Our dachshunds Adele & Oscar do this too. Especially when they're laying in the sun on a warm deck. Cracks us up.
My Frankie does this all the time. I call it 'chicken leg'.
Yup - Auggie does it all the time - I have figured out no rhyme or reason as to why...my mom calls her duck butt when she does it...
my dog poppi does something like that. she doesn't sit like that but she stretches by dragging her hind legs behind her every morning when she gets up and after a nap. Super cute!
Buddy does this all the time especially in bed or on the couch, we call it "otter legs" and Izzy will only do it when she is really tired.
Meadow does this all the time after a long walk or if she's really tired. Oddly... I've never seen Beckett get in that position.
That's the ONLY way our dog lays on the floor. She likes to do it with her head on the ground.
riley used to lay like this a lot when he was younger. not so much anymore. dash does the stretchy drag-leg thing. SO cute!
Yup, Frankie, the Walk 'N Roll Dog does this also. Interestingly enough she did this before she was paralyzed, then for a LONG time after her paralysis she didn't do this... but most recently has started doing this again.
I always say to her when she sits like that, "Are you a little frog?"
I LOVE it when doxie's sit like this. Too cute!

Oh yes! Both of our doxies do that... must be a trait.
Merlot does it ALL the time. It's her favorite position to lay in WHILE chewing on a bone or toy. I took a picture of it one day and her front arms were out too - she looked like she was flying - it was so cute!
; - )
Our dachshund doesn't but my corgi does!
my doxie ALWAYS used to do that!!
Mine do it too, plus I remember my dachshund as a child used to do it as well - he looked just like the photo you have.
Mine also like to do it when they are sliding off of our laps or our sides when we are in bed. Very funny.
My mini dachshund Honey does that all the time, sits kind of funny too. Our standard dachshund Bosko doesn't do it nearly as often - probably out of fear she will jump on him if he relaxes too much! lol
woody does this, sometimes he stretches and stays in this position, sometimes he just does it. we call it the frog legs...
my dog blake loves to sit like that
HAHA!! Lila sleeps like that. A-FREAKING-DORABLE!
oh yes- Kona does that- especially when he comes back from a long walk or a run.. we always say he looks like a seal! My friends say he looks like a pig when he does it! It's so cute!
My Rolo does this all the time! Especially when he comes home from a walk or when we let him outside in the sun!
He is actually doing it right now while he is chewing his bone...kinda funny!
all of my doxies have done that .
Oddly enough, neither Calvin nor Theo have ever really done that besides just for a quick stretch.
My Forest does this all the time - it's hilarious! He does it when he's stretching or laying on our rug chewing on his toy; I like to pat his bum when he's like that. Super cute :)
Yep, my zoe is doing that also :)
Out of the 4 daschies we have had over the years, only 1...Millie, has crouched like that. No idea why....but she's happy!
All of ours do - we call it "frog dog"
Only one of our 3 dachshunds has this odd way of lying/sitting/resting. It must be comfortable for him. He falls asleep almost immediately in this position. We call it "broken legs".
Hamish does this with his butt in the air (back prooped up on our legs or a pillow) and front half down at a 30 degree angle. And he'll stay like that. He likes the stretch.
well winnie and wilbur do this when their laying in bed. looks so cute when they do this.
Yes! Our red haired Doxie Copper does this ALL the time. So funny too!
I do it all the time....its my froggy doggy position. I just found your blog and love it! I am adding you to my "More Wiener Dog Blogs" blogroll.

Yep, Bella lays like this all the time, as does her half sister Chanel that my sister has, its too cute for words :)
My dachshund/pug mix Darcy does this all the time...it's her favorite way to lay down!
Yes! We call this "chicken leg" dog when our Oskar lays out all flattened. It looks uncomfortable to us, but he doesn't mind. Even funnier is when he throws himself upside down against the wall, legs splayed every-which-way, in a ray of sunshine, as if we tossed him like a rag in the corner! That makes quite a picture...
Neither Carlisle or Easton do this. They tuck their legs under. However, the yorkie does it.
yup! macho and savvy do this. I think it's funniest when they are chewing on a toy and laying like that.
All three of my doxies do that, although the girls do it a lot more often than Jordan.
Yep. Our Charlie does that. We call it the frog butt. Our new rescue, Maggie does it with just one leg, she leaves the other one tucked under.
LOVE LOVE LOVE when my Pork Chop does that. It's my favorite pose.
My Michael does it all the time. Then, I have to resist the urge to pinch his tush and coo "Look at these drumsticks, I'm going to eat you up."
Yeah, can't believe I just admitted that.
I call it the Sphinx. Too cute
I have two dachshunds. One of them does it when he's very tired or when he's laying in the sun. It' so cute!!
Milo does this all the time, we say he's "dualled out" (like a dual exhaust) Riley only does this when she's stretching.
One of our boys before Baxter did this but, oddly, Baxter has never done it. But Baxter also never sloppy sits. He must not be as bendy!
Vito does this ALL the time. I just don't know how it's comfortable!
My dachshund Willie does it and my childhood dachsie, Heidi did it too.
