Now I think it goes without saying that July has been a busy and exciting month here at WYD headquarters. Before it even started, the month was planned out with puppy drop offs and pick ups, departure times, delayed flights, dental operations and so much more. But when it really kicked off was the second I stepped into my house after getting back from San Diego to see not one, not two, but three fiercely excited dachshunds demanding attention.
We were so lucky and delighted to have Tofu join our pack for two weeks while Kimberly and her lovely husband gallivanted about Europe. Ever since the fenced-in yard made our dog ownership about 3024985 times easier, we're always happy to lump more fur kids into the family even if only temporary.
Actually I think temporary is preferred...

The two weeks went just swimmingly - except of course for the fact that I can't tell Tofu and Calvin apart anymore now that they're about the same size. Sure, during the day you can see the different paw colourings and a touch of white on Calvin's chest but at nighttime? It's anyone's guess. I felt like a bad dad on pretty much a daily basis.
We napped (a lot), cuddled up for movies, spent lots of time at the dog park (even swimming!), and played nurse to Jason who was recovering from having his wisdom teeth out (Tofu was more attentive than me...I won't even lie). Tofu remains a little charmer and he certainly left an impression on all of us. I'll always remember Calvin, Theo AND Jason pressed up against the glass in the living room waiting for him to come back after he went home. I'm not sure who was the saddest about it all...

But never fear...the adventures of the Halifax dachshund trio isn't over just yet! I'll let Kimberly tell you the rest of the story from HER puppy-sitting duties from when she took over two days later. Such is the incredible joy and luck of having reliable puppy-swap partners!
More to come...

I have two of these amazing puppies... and I just found your blogs!!! So adorable!
I wish I had someone to puppy swap with, but until then the girl gets shipped off to her grandparents house who are always happy to have her and some free snuggles.
Try having 6 doxies 2 boys looked like papa doxie an 2 boys that looked like momma . it was cahos .
I wish I had someone I could trust to look after the pups. Frankly, no one I know has enough patience. ;)
Also, I tell Lila and Ruty appart under the covers by how soft their fur is. Rusty is way softer that Lila.
Tracy: I'm so glad you found us!
Jossie: Hahaha my folks always think they'd like to take the boys for a few days when we go but I quickly remind them of all the times that they AREN'T napping.
Jennifer: Ohhh my....I wouldn't know what to do with myself.
Sleepyjane: Right! I at least know that Kimberly understands what to expect.
Must. Have. Playdate.
But seriously, I love that I have found another dachshund owner (of three!) in the area to exchange with when we leave town. It's comforting to leave them with someone who really just gets them.
