A while ago someone asked me how big Rusty was because I made a comment about his size in a blog post. And well, I haven't actually measured him 'cause I'm lazy like that but I did take a picture.
I apologize for the poor quality of the photo but it was taken on my iPhone in a dimly lit room. They were waiting for Jaco to come home, and as you can see Lila's bum is resting on the couch while Rusty's is just sort of dangling in the air.
I should also mention that Lila is an incredibly long dog, I know she should be long, she's a Dachshund after all, but you should see her. It's ridiculous.
This was definitely one of those ohmywordmydogsarecute moments.
There was no other way I could name this post without any sort of innuendo. I tried.
With a dog breed nicknamed wiener, I did what I could.

i measured my weiner maggie the other day and she is 18 inches from nose to tail and her barrel chest is 18 inches wide. :)

i should measure how big around riley and dash are, because they're basically the same height and length, but 15lb riley's a chesty beefcake, and 10lb dash is all paws and fur.

My part time babies....er, I mean my parent's Dachshunds are:
Bonnie 18 lbs - She's got a tweenie build
Reno - 13 lbs - He's got a mini build
Thankfully neither of them are fat...er....um wieners. :-D I just took them to the vet last week and the vet said they were both in healthy weight range.
This is, without a doubt, one of the coolest, cutest, most adorable, etc., etc., etc., pictures I have ever seen. Ever. Thank you so much!
Just found this blog. LOVE it. Have only been a dachshund owner for a month now, but it's fabulous. Maggie is 11 lbs... not too long. Tweenie size.
Awww cute fur babies!! Crybaby Cripsie is really long too. She's a reverse dapple gray 3/4 wiener and 1/4 chihuahua. So she is crazy long and TALL like freaking giraffe. She probably weighs 17 lbs or so. And her name fits. lol She's the longest of our 5 wieners. (pun maybe intended, but i will never tell.:)

woodys a little large for a mini, rounding out at about 14 lbs. i always imagine him to be big, but when he is near my parents' standard, who is about 21 lbs of pure muscle, and then he looks little
my boys were big brutes for minis but they werent fat they was just musscle boundeds lil fella weighing abt 15 an 14 pounds . MY long haired girl i had weighed 15 pounds an she was extra long she wld come around corners an her but an backend were in other room still my mini dapple one i have now is a tenny tiny mini she is 8 months old weighs 8 pounds an she a foot long but she thinks shes a lion .
We have Tofu for two weeks while Kimberly's away and we've learned since he has lost weight how very similar he and Calvin look. Just a difference on the paws is the only way of telling them apart!
