The Flappy Experience

A few weeks ago we received a very kind email offering us free (!) dog toys to test out and review.

Can you say, 'no brainer'?

I gladly accepted the invitation to watch my dachshunds tear through another promise of indestructible while taking the opportunity to get some new video clips of them while I was at it. Flappy Dog Toys sent over two of their five different Flappy toys, much to Calvin and Theo's delight!

Here's what happened...

So here are my thoughts on the product based on my usual new toy concerns:

1) Durability - I'm floored. A total of two toys have survived more than a week unscathed in my home. Even the plush Fleecie Flappy which I wrote off as a goner is still kicking around the house in great condition. I never thought I'd find a soft toy that would last!

2) Squeakability - Yes, like all other toys that my dogs go nuts for, it squeaks. BUT - it squeaks in a glorious, muffled sort of way that keeps my brain tissue from melting out my nose. Sorry for the graphic description, but you know you've all run across a toy like that.

3) Grossability - We spend a lot of time outdoors so I like toys that manage to stay cleanish. The Tuffie Flappy is still in wonderful condition but the soft Fleecie Flappy is a little dingier just because it can soak stuff up. Still...I'm cool with that considering it's the best plush toy I've found yet.

All in all, the Fleecie Flappy is the favourite but the Tuffie Flappy is just as good when one isn't really willing to put up the fight for the soft version. Either way, Calvin and Theo proudly give their Flappy toys their seal of approval!

Check out the product, videos, photos, testimonials, contests and even a community over at Flappy Dog Toys and let me know what you think!

Very interesting. I think if we're going to be reviewing stuff like this - we need a star rating system!!!?

Was the Flappy toy 4 out of 5 stars? Recommended by 4 out of 5 dachshunds?

; - )

Wow - I am going to have to pick some up for my destructive dachshunds...they can destroy a stuffed-squeaker toy in less than 2 minutes.

I'm sorry but I am still not convinced that it would last more than a day with Stella.

Hillary - I kid you not...I thought it was going to be ripped to shreds in minutes but it's still completely in tact and I haven't picked up a single torn piece.

Unbelievable.

Aw Calvin and Theo are so freaking cute together!:) In a sibling relationship like that, it's funny how there is almost always the same dynamic -one who is more outgoing and dominant over the other, and one who is "la la la, oh you took my toy....la la la.....".
This video played out like a childhood memory lol
Great toys too! Simon would have to work very hard to get the fluff out!

OK - so we bought a fluffy one and a fleecy one and Zucker destuffed it within 3 minutes :~( Oh well. Liepshin is at least enjoying the fluffy one still. But it has now only been 15 minutes....so it's only a matter of time.

I am officially in love with this video, and even more convinced that I should embark on a roadtrip for the exclusive purpose of a Halifax play date. One day, indeed. I'll have to check these toys out, because the only thing that remains undestroyed here is the Kong, and they can get pretty bored by that.

baxter wants one, but he's pretty rough on toys once he gets a hankering to kill it. I have a feeling it would last as long as the toys that Zucker and Liepshin had!

Tillie - that sucks! I'm amazed that both the ones I picked up are still kicking. The Tuffie one is starting to get a hole in it after much dedicated efforts from Calvin but the Fleecie is still in tact. Maybe my dogs are just finally learning to cherish their toys?

i love the video! J and I laughed at the "good for stealing part"

always good to know about toys like these since our little ones like to rip the stuffing out of everything that comes their way.

I got a fleecie and a toughy for Rommel, the squeaker was out of the fleecie in about 2 minutes, the toughy in about 5, he is relentless and merciless on anything that has a squeaker in it!

I've had mine for almost two weeks now based on your recommendations. It is still intact and is currently the most fought over toy in the house. I took some great shots of Chloe attempting to gut the Flappy, but she was unable to break it's impenetrable alien technology shield. I rate it officially Chloe-proof. Amazing toy. We got the toughy Flappy and it is very washable. It also doesn't get as slobbery which is nice for us humans.
