One for me and none for you!

I understand that dogs have this whole pack animal thing going on. Of course J and I are the leaders of this pack. It may not always look like it, but we are.

We really are.

Yes I am just trying to convince myself.

However as far as the four legged creatures in our house go, Lila is the dominant one. So when they’re playing “tug” she always ends up with whichever soft toy it is that’s causing all the growling and commotion.

And Rusty…well he doesn't take it personally. He’ll write it off as a bad loss and go find another one to play with.

So Lila will promptly leave the soft toy that she fought so hard for and take whatever Rusty has out of his mouth. Again.

I know this is all normal but I can’t help but feel a little sorry for the little guy.

The first time I woke up to sounds of cows and monkeys I just thought I was having a trippy dream until I realized that it was just Rusty, playing in the lounge with all Lila’s coveted toys. Because that’s the only time he really gets to play.

When Lila is in “bed time” mode nothing phases her.

Like Mother like Daughter, I assume??

Calvin and Theo swap the dominant role depending on what's going on. Theo doesn't stand a chance if we're playing fetch but indoors Theo's pretty good at stockpiling the toys for no reason.

My oldest male, Rufus HAS to eat first. Okay, I understand this... but... after he's done, he chooses the order in which the other three eat. It's not always the same. So if he has, say, Lucy in mind and Francie comes along, boy does he set her straight! Lately, the three of them look sheepishly at eachother to see who's brave enough to attempt to walk towards the bowl and take a chance that they are out of order! I have given up trying to intercede. That's just the way things are done in this house.

aww! poor Rusty. :) Ours are kinda like that too. Macho always has to have the toy first and then when he has deemed it to be too boring is when Savvy gets to play with it.

Tofu, being the only dog in the house, doesn't have to deal with this problem normally. He used to be the hoarder whenever Calvin came over. But now when his brothers visit he's usually OK with them playing with his toys too because he knows they'll eventually go away..! Poor little Rusty though. At least he gets those moments when his sister is sleeping!

This is just the SWEETEST picture EVER!! OMG! Just love it. We doxie's think we are human, so that is why we sleep this way. Heck, we are so cute our humans just can't scold us if we are in bed all cute like this.
I hope Lila will ease up on Rusty though with the toy situation. Geesh!

That is the cutest picture EVER! I'm still not use to Coz & Bella fighting; but I know they have to work things out on their own. It figures the girl is more bossy than the boy pup- LOL! Go Lila, it's your Birthday- we gonna party like, it's ya Birthday- whoot!
