I can go on about how cute Lila and Rusty are (and they are. Sometimes) but the truth is they’re really evil beings in puppy suits sent to earth to destroy everything I own.
I’m fighting a losing battle with puppy training (obedience, potty etc…) and it’s time I admit it. Although don’t tell them I said it. Everyone else said “Dachshunds are headstrong, they understand commands but choose to ignore them. That’s why it’s hard to train them.”
I finally get it. Rusty and Lila know what “no” and “outside potty” means. I can see it in their eyes and reactions. But they choose to ignore me. Lila more so than Rusty though.
I finally get it. Rusty and Lila know what “no” and “outside potty” means. I can see it in their eyes and reactions. But they choose to ignore me. Lila more so than Rusty though.
For example;
When Lila tries to sneak past me with my flip flop in her mouth and I yell “no” she’s suddenly hard of hearing and makes a run for it.
When Rusty tries to sneak past me with my flip flop in his mouth and I yell “no” he hesitates. If I repeat the “no” again he rolls over onto his back and surrenders.
This leads me to one conclusion. Lila is their leader.
I wonder if they have a top secret sign?

You guys seem to like the itty bitty puppy pictures so I couldn't resist. This is also evidence, see how she's biting his ear? Lila is definitely their leader. Do not let the adorable puppy fat fool you.

Lila is definitely the alpha dog in that house.
I bet they have a secret paw-shake and everything...
; - )
I HATE that moment where you can tell they're thinking about giving in but ultimately decide not to. It's a terrible thirty seconds where they hold your self-esteem in the balance before dropping you like a rock.
I know it well.
That's so Bogey. Today, for example, I was folding clothes and had them on the ground. I walked away to check on the baby and there he was, ON MY CLEAN CLOTHES. I told him to GET OFF and he did, so I went to get a drink. And there he was AGAIN. Nevermind that he has access to his own bed. This repeated about 4 more times before I finally told him to stay in his bed where he just looked at me with those sad eyes
Those are the cutest dogs I have ever seen. I want to put them on buns and eat them. What? I'm just saying what everyone's thinking.
I wish I had room for one more dog in my house so I could get a dachshund.
Muah-ha-ha-ha - then she takes off with your flip flop.... oh, that little rascal!
It's a good thing they are so damn cute! It's hard to get mad at a Doxie!
hahahah!!!
You're lucky they only take off with your flip flop- it could be worse- like your under things!!! Grrr....
OMG! These pups sound a lot like my children. LOL. They are absolutely adorable. In a family you'll always have one who is the leader, one who obeys and all of them will have selective hearing.
Love the pics of the adorable puppy fat.
