My name is Mel, age 28, and I am owned by a dachshund named Ike. He is a nearly 7 year old miniature, black and tan dachshund (who is getting fat and currently weighs in at 11.5lbs). He was named Ike after the South Park character (Kyle's younger, adopted, Canadian brother).
When I welcomed Ike into my life, it was my very first dachshund experience. And it will not be my last. He is stubborn, has a mind of his own, and has a huge desire to get into any kind of trouble he can. Ike is, however, my best friend. I adore him and love when he gives me hugs. I even love him when he sits in the window and barks at everything in sight.
I live in Michigan (USA) and am an occupational therapy graduate student. It kind of gets lonely when you bury yourself in homework and studying. Thank goodness for Ike! I can have the worst day ever. . .but the second I get home, I feel better. . .I feel WELCOME!
Ike entered my life on August 16, 2003. One thing I will never tell him? We almost chose his brother instead of him. In October 2009, I was married and Ike gained a brother, Atlas (a black lab/pitbull mix), who I sometimes chat about as well.
